How to mount saddle bags?

Hello Vetter friends,

I'm going to purchase a set of saddle bags witrh brackets coming from a GL1200.

On this bike the bags seem to be mounted with bolts and nuts to the brackets. Is this the original way to put the sadlle bags on a bike? Or is there any kind of a quick on/quick off lock available?

Best regards

Dieter

Those are not Vetter Saddlebags. They were never designed for quick disconnect and reconnect like the Vetter Bags. Honda got those saddlebags from a different supplier that were much cheaper and people were happy with them despite them basicly being simple rectangle boxes. Craig Vetter had sold out long before the GL1200 hit the market. By that time the Vetter bags and trunk design had fell out of fashion. People wanted squared off bags and trunks and they got them with those factory built touring bikes starting with the later model GL1100 Aspencad to this very day. They also allow air to circulate behind the back of the bike and move forward around the rider and passenger. Those bags and trunks are not aerodynamic at all. Vetter designed Bags and Trunks prevented that situation. People chose fashion over function.

It's possible that someone took the Vetter bags and removed the quick disconnect locks and bolted the bags to the racks. If that is the case, I fear there is no turning back.

Meanwhile I bought the bags. They have the complete quick disconnect installed and came with the original frame. Those bags and the trunk were indeed installed on a GL1200 in combination with the factory fairing.
Sorry for causing any trouble.
