Numerous SPAM messages lately

What's up with all the sales ads being posted recently? I keep reporting them, and I have sent AVetterXS more than one message, and have been ignored. It's getting ridiculous!

Many sites do't allow new members' posts to appear until they've been approved. I suggested this, but again, I've been ignored. Can't anyone do anything?

I am glad to know I'm not the only one reporting them, but it's getting to be a full time effort reporting the spam.

I know they have been out of control. I may have to switch to admin approval. I know Ron deletes them as fast as they come up.

I need to run a forum update and that may help, however now they want to charge me 300 bucks for the update and then 300 for the theme update.

Larry, I have not seen any PM's from you. Definitely not ignoring you. I think when you report them, it goes into a different area not my PM's.

I will work on this issue this week and see if I can come up with a solution.

It's funny that we're limited in how often we can report the spams (have to wait between reports), but the spams aren't limited.

Still pouring in, and many are still in the forums, not being removed. I just don't get it.

It's getting to the point that coming here is a chore, and it shouldn't be. Isn't this a moderator's responsibility?

Presuming you are blocking every spammer's username, they have to use a new name every time. Thus my suggestion of vetting new users so their first posts can be scanned for content.

I'll do it. Make me a moderator and tell me how to withhold first posts. Many sites do that.

I've given up on reporting spam. The lack of concern about enforcing the policies is making coming here unpalatable.

Sorry, I had to upgrade the license before I could do what needed to be done.

The spam should slow down and then stop. I have put new spam user module as well as all new users have to be approved before they can post.

I am trying to wrangle the forum back into shape. Been out of time personally and it was time to put moneys back into the forum before things could be updated. Xenforo license was $210 plus $100 for my theme update and $300 a year for hosting and misc little stuff. All for the good of the cause.

Larry, hang tight it gets better from here. I know Ron moderates as he can, and I have been out for the last 2 weeks. Are you at all interested in moderating as well?

Ok, I just manually deleted 100+ users from the database. All spam users. They will not be able to use those existing accounts to login and spam. I need to go through our remaining 500 members and try to weed out BS users from there. Time consuming however needed to get this place cleaned up!

I now knight you VOGS Moderator #2. You and Ron have the keys to the forum.

I believe you will have additional menu choices, as well as you can use your login to get to the admin backend (I think, test and let me know). You should have all moderator options like ban, delete, move, etc.

Absolutely! Let me know what I have to do.

Average cost is about $300 to $600 per year. Depending if I do the Xenforo update every year. I have not for the last 2 years, been slacking. Still have to pay hosting though. I dont mind covering the costs, its worth the it for the community and stockpile of knowledge on the topic of Vetter.
