Trunk liner?

What do you think is the best option for a well used trunk? I've had everything from groceries to shocks and tools to work on my buddies 73 Mach I.

My first thought was a thick felt material like a boot liner is made of. It would cushion and wick away moisture very well. A quick search turned up a material called Nomex which is used in driver suits for auto racing. Apparently it has some nice fire resistant properties as well. Looks like its sold in 1 foot increments from a 60" bolt, not as cheap as I'd have hoped but if it fits the needs and budget...

I used a Dollar Tree floor mat. I cut it to fit and it's worked well for several years now. If you don't know what Dollar Tree is it's one of those stores where everything is a Dollar ($1). I also lined the pockets in my Windjammer fairing with the same stuff. It's easy to cut with sharp scissors.

Dollar Tree kicks ass.

I don't know why I didn't think of this first, but years ago when I had a partsbike with a vetter trunk it was lined with good 'ol deep pile shag carpet. It was cut to fit and stitched at the corners. Imagine one big plus sign shaped piece of shag rug with sides folded up like a sheetmetal box.
