Blank Canvas

It is the camera angle. There is about 3-4 inches of clearance between the bag and the muffler, I'm probably going to make the spreader or rear bumper, whatever you want to call it, a little longer to help keep that distance as great as possible.

I can't seem to find a set of luggage mounts for my XS11 Special. I have a set for a XS11 Standard that I am going to have to modify. I don't really want to modify the ones I have because they are original. I will have to either keep looking or modify. I am hoping for a set to surface soon. Very nice modification above. I may be calling soon.

I recently saw a set for a XS11, on ebay, but not sure if it was for a Special or not. It will probably be less aggravation to just get another set and get out the cutting wheel and welder rather than looking for that needle in the hay-stack.

Yeah I agree. I saw the same set I think on eBay. The problem is the fellow wouldn't even reply to my questions to find out if they were for a Special or Standard.

Working for the Government has it's advantages. This turned into a 4 day weekend from my full time job, so I was able to finish up the other side today before I had to be at my part-time job (referred to as "my hobby fund"). All that is left to do is paint the doors and I am DONE!!!!

I was able to get the doors painted with the first coat and a light sanding and then a second coat before the temps dropped out of the bottom again, but nothing new since then.

I have been looking at fairings and windscreens and I know that I do not want a full fairing on this bike but I also know I want something to send some air up over me like the Vetter fairing does, so I have been looking closely at Slipstreamers. Wow, those things are expensive! I'm sure I will get one of those eventually, but too many things going on at once with the 1100: forks, carbs, ignition, etc, etc...

So I was looking at eBay again and tonight I bought a Vetter Rooster fairing for 1/3 of the cost of a Slipstreamer. Sure I know Craig had nothing to do with these, but it has the name right on the front.

I really like the Rooster fairings. I have an unopened Rooster Sound system. I want a Rooster fairing too for my collection.

I am getting the low budget model, so it is going to need some work and a fresh coat of paint.

I like those fairings. Keep your eye on eBay for NOS parts for it. I see them from time to time.

Keep a resto photo journal. Then post a chronology in the technical section under other fairings.

Planning on it. It even comes with the stereo installed. Not sure I am going to keep the old system in it or not.

What is the old system? I am a Cycle Sound and old radio fanatic. I may be able to give some ideas or guidance depending on what you want to do.

Aren't obsessions great!

They are even better when others share them with you.

I got home from work today and a box greeted me and this was the radio that I found in the fairing:

I swear the other knob is somewhere in my den, but I would be darned if I can find it!

Anyway, I don't think it will be making the journey back into the fairing. I want something with a USB drive which will cut down on weight.

Guess it is time to start a new thread about the fairing!
