I was visiting with a collector and this CBX caught my eye. I said to him, "wow that is a clean CBX". He said "look at the gauges". I said "holy crap!".

That is a sin! :(

But you know, a CBX would be the right bike to do it to.

I think what's funny is the 80 MPH clock - up here I think they have 150 MPH/240 KPH ones !

That was the era of the infamous 55 mph speed limit. It is even highlighted on the speedo.

My 82 Yamaha XJ750 Maxim has the 85mph speedo. Not that I need to go any faster than 75 anyways...

With an 85 mph speedo, you know you will never have to lie about never going faster than 85 mph.

Whats funny is I didn't even notice that. The CBX1000 has be a bit faster then 85. What were they thinking? Must be a USA / 80's / Smog / Regulation thing.

So so true! I would love to have it for a collectors piece. It's just rotting away.

The story goes. A friend of mine that has a incredible collection of vintage era bikes bought this from somewhere a number of years ago with zero miles on it. The bike was sold in mint condition. In transport something fell off a shelf and left a giant dent in the tank. Bob was so upset and mad that he shunned the bike to the corner of the shop never to be touched again or loved again. He wont even talk about the bike! Its had zero maintenance, zero love, no change of oil, not started, never showed off, rubber is all dried out. It's sad.

I wish I could adopt it.

My 81 Wing only goes to 85, but the 84 shows 140. :D
