Was looking at my local Craigslist and found a Velorex 562 sidecar that was pulled out of a barn and posted for sale. I called and confirmed it was still available. I was surprised because he only wanted $350 for it. I made arrangement to see it and possably buy it a couple of days later as he was out of town. It was in good shape but missing some hardware which I could make on my lathe and mill. I diden't even argure about the price simply pulling $350 out and handing it over. He helped me load it in my truck. That was June 3rd. I now have it on my bike and adjusted properly having put a little over 100 miles on it. It handles nice and I'm really enjoying it.

I have an 1980 model of the same car. Had if on my 85 VT700 for three years and its currently holding up a 84XV 1000 Virago!

That's a great deal, did you have to alter your bike's registration to keep it legal?

No. I'm in Alabama so it's still a motorcycle despite adding a third wheel. Nothing needed to be inspected or the registration changed or anoted noting the addition of a sidecar to the motorcycle. Alabama has not really kept up with modern changes. Alabama has trailer laws and goes into great detail about what sort of weight rated trailer can be attached to a DOT rated vehicle and the registration and type of tag that must be purchased but there is nothing about trailers connected to motorcycles so I've never put an Alabama trailer tag on my Bushtec Motorcycle trailer and have never been stopped in Alabama about that. I did get stopped in Georgia for that but there was nothing the Georgia State Trooper could do about it. Once he found out I was from Alabama he commented that I diden't need a tag on my Motorcycle trailer and let me go. Some Bikers that pull Bike trailers will pay $10 for a small trailer tag just to prevent being stopped and harrased about it. I'm the sort of person that enjoys being pulled over so I can inform them of Alabama's laws and regulations and let them call and find out I'm correct. Meanwhile who knows how many others were saved from Georgia law enforcment while I took up their time dealing with me.

Wow! That was the deal of the century! It looks good on your bike. What is the bike? And, do I see an aoogah horn on there?

Good luck, and don't counter-steer.

The bike is a 2006 Honda VLX VT600CD. That is an Aoogah horn on it. I put it on because people actually pay attention to it because it sounds so different than a standard horn, especially the tiny and weak beep horn that came with the bike. I got it at Harbor Freight.
Steering a motorcycle with a sidecar attached is a whole different thing. It "Fights" you in tight turns. You get used to it pretty quickly. I actually have over 500 miles on the bike with it attached. It's not getting taken off anytime soon. I really enjoy driving it with the sidecar on it.
