Here is what I did to convert my XS1100 Standard Vetter Luggage brackets to fit my XS1100 Special.
Here you see my XS 1100 Standard bracket. The difference is that the pegs are located in a different places on the Special and Standard. The length of the peg bar, as well as the angle are off. So, you will need to shorten and reposition the bar that attaches to the back of the rear foot pegs.
Cut that guy off with my Dremel tool
Grind it down, I took between 1/4" to 1/2" off. Also ground it to the correct angle.
I then positioned on the bike, tack welded, and then welded in my vice. Below is the final after I ground down my really bad welds.
Primer the bad welds
Paint the welds
Now it fits perfect

A super nice fellow named Marshall on the net that I emailed sent me these measurements of his Special brackets. His were built for the Special, so they are a great reference. He has a cool plate too!
