It appears to be a Windjammer 3 due to the square reflector. Only the 3's had that reflector. The serial number could have been a custom serial number for a batch of Fairings Ordered by BMW and fitted on "Factory Equipped" Touring Bikes.

I have to disagree on the reflector as Carol's pre-production Windjammer II (Test fairing #1) had the side reflectors (or optional lamps?)

Having never seen in person, as far as I can recall, a Windjammer I or II, I'd have to guess yours is an low serial number Windjammer II. (Carol's 'test faring #1' is suspected to be serial # 9873.) http://www.vetterowners.com/threads/a-call-for-vetter-serial-numbers.148/page-3#post-4224

The BMW markings and stripes look to me like they were done by a P.O. after the fact.

I am guessing its a low number Windjammer II. The II's did have the rectangle reflector. The lowest recored as per Craig for the II is 13,648 (big number difference from yours).

Also, I believe Craig told me that the Windjammer 1 did not have the edge molding. So my guess is that, that is a custom sticker, not anything put on by Vetter. Also, Craig said the the 1 didn't have a metal ID plate.

Just putting the puzzle pieces together.
