181.6 Miles-Per-Gallon

I'm sorry for my long silence. The last two months I've ridden my Vetter Streamlined Ninja 250 approximately 16,800-miles. I have over 72,000 miles on my streamliner now. While in Mid-Ohio on July 11th I competed in the local Vetter motorcycle fuel economy contest. After a few years of hard work I finally beat everyone else with 181.6 Miles-Per-Gallon!

The reason for the big jump in fuel economy was the special built fuel efficient motor and taller gearing. More information of this event can be seen at:

For anyone interested in riding along in the next fuel economy contest we will be in Wendover, Nevada on August 29th. We will finish in Tooele, Utah.

When I'm not loaded down with gear and just cruising down the highway (70-75 MPH) I normally get only 110-118 Miles-Per-Gallon.

That is super cool. Talk about fantastic gas milage. Congratulations on such a achievement. I have been reading quiet a bit on Craig's site about the Streamliners. The info is fascinating.

There are multiple reasons for not reporting the results sooner. First Craig Vetter does not update his web site until he returns home. In this case I think it was almost two weeks.

My raw data may conflict with the final results. I would love to see the results posted within a couple of days.

After the competition I had approximately 5,000 more miles before I returned home. I did not return home for a few weeks. At the end of each day by the time I check into a motel, service my motorcycle, plan for the next day, figure out the weather forecast, shower, eat dinner, check E-mail messages then reply, the day is gone.

Right now I'm getting ready for the next fuel economy contest.
