The bike you speak of is one of my next projects. How do I love the cb750.. If you happen to pick this up Just take some pictures.. or some measurements I too will be needing to find one or build one.. But here is one I found real quick.. I know a guy that can get just about ANY REPLACEMENT part for this bike Listed here http://www.ebay.com/usr/jtmarks77?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2754

Jut look up your part number for your part and you can find it here. If not you can do it with him through a E-mail. The prices are better going through Purchase outside ebay. He will gather all you need then send you a invoice. You pay it he ships it Just that simple.. I've bought over 200.00 worth of parts from him... Also have a set of fairing lights that match if you need them. I bought 3 sets for lenz replacements.. Also if you need any Fairing stuff other than what you can find on ebay check this site out toohttp://www.craigvetter.com/pages/Online_Store/Online_Store_main.html

This is the Founder I've spent hrs going through all of this and I am a true Vetter Fan.. I've had things shipped from here. Carol is a great help on anything you need. Have a look around on this form too. These guys are a big help. And just might have something you just can't find.. Welcome welcome.. Hope this helps , I started with nothing had no where to turn. The best thing you could have done is come here.. Have a great day..

Welcome to the forum. I would recommend trying to find a mount for the 750 before modifying the one you have. It can be done but it would be a lot easier and the cb750 mount should be easy and cheap to find.

Hello everyone. I as you know own a couple of GL1000's 77 78. Now I've moved onto a much bigger bike. I bought a 1500 Wing. Now I love my old bikes and tend to keep them. I'm building another engine for my 78. The primary chain thingy went bad so I had to park it yet again. I went ahead and put the 77 back to original Vetter touring look. Now that I have time I'm slowly working on my 78 again. I need a few things but nothing that will break the bank. I'm looking into replacing the locks on the bags and the lock that locks to the bag frame. Anyone know how to replace this lock to insure it won't come loose from the bike on a trip? Other than rekeying it. The tumbler that is on this set of bags is a one sided key. They are from a much early set of Vetter I think. Cause the one sided key will unlock all the locks. Just that the key is old and I don't trust it much. Anyway that's where I'm at on this bike. They are put up for the summer. Just way to hot to ride something as old as this plus I want to keep the miles down. Happy 4th. 20160531_180808.jpg

Why? Do they not work?

The lock won't come loose or the bag? The lock does not hold the bag on, the spring clip does. The lock spreads the spring clip to release the bag.

Have a new key cut? Most of the one sided keys are very common key blanks that most locksmiths should be able to cut.

The locks can be replaced with cam locks available at big box diy stores, I've done it. Only problem is finding enough locks keyed the same, otherwise you need multiple keys or have to rekey some locks to the others.
