Around here, the amber low-wattage running light is quite unusual and I found out a danger it brings when a driver went to pull out of a side street as I was approaching. I didn't twig at first, but it's likely they saw the left running light and thought I was turning down into the side street.
Hmm... think I'll disable them and have a normal white pair instead, or a big single.
It is my intention to have an LED 27W DRL mounted centrally, which is powerful enough to act as an emergency headlight, should the main lighting circuits ever crap out. The DRL circuit is entirely seperate and single-switched from the centre consol

Sounds to me like you need a WJ 3 or Vindicator so that you don't have the amber running lights. Safety is paramount, so that would give you a new reason to go shopping...;)

I'll pull the connections for the running lamps and when I replace them with LED bulbs, I'll parallel the running light wires with the signal wires on each side, so the front blinkers will have that little bit extra luminosity.
