I apologize Kevin, I use the word debate loosely. I should have said, a difference in information. I will find out the history behind the fairing, because I too, have an interest now. Thats why we are on the forum, fun, debate, answers, and forward movement.

Mine is the WJ4
 
At first I thought it was a 850 suzuki. I have never seen a 450 with a Windjammer and bags before.
I had a '66 Honda 450 but it was nakid as most bike were back then.
 
Although I never owned one, I prefer the first generation Windjammer because it was made of hand-laid fiberglass.

The generations (1, 2, 3) preceding the fairings with built-in turn signals could carry a quart oil can in both sides. The signals and optional horns in the SS, WJ4, and WJ5 used that space. As I understand it, Craig specifically designed in the ability to carry quart cans of two-stroke oil because he rode two-strokes.
