Hello All,
I am recently semi-retired and am hoping to have more time to restore and ride my vintage Yamahas and Vetter accessories which I became very fond of in the early eighties. I really enjoyed the look and great functions of these accessories, and I look forward to restoring them. Currently I have the Windjammer V, lowers, saddle bags, and trunk in very good condition and lots of period advertising. I hope to add an early eighties Terraplane sidecar once I can locate one in excellent condition, and some Hippo Hands would top it all off nicely. I own a 73TX650, a 74TX750A, and an 80XS11. It was the XS purchase that introduced me to Vetter accessories as that is what the bike was equipped with. High mileage days riding across Canada and the US with the XS and the Windjammer are very fond memories for me. I look forward to someday meeting others at a rally of like minded enthusiasts. Been looking for some Hippo Hands myself. Almost had an early set on ebay a few weeks ago, but the price got a little to high for what I was willing to pay.

Welcome Mike! Sounds like some super cool projects. I love the Yamahas. I feel the XS11 are some of the best looking bikes with Vetter gear. I have a 79 Special and its my baby. Prior I have had a 2 other XS11 Specials. I would love to have a Midnight special with the full Vetter setup. Now that would be cool! Share some pics of your rides in the other forums.

This site will be a great resource for me! Look forward to corresponding as the restoration of accessories begins and the search for a Terraplane continues. I said excellent condition for the Terraplane, but very good condition and mostly complete would work just fine. I am thinking that parts would be very hard to find, so complete would be better for me. I will have questions Tom at some point for sure. Mike

Sounds like you all ready have a full vetter set. Grats. Finding hippo hands on ebay is hit or miss and the prices / conditions vary.

I snatched 2 (two different versions) NOS off ebay a few years ago. I think I tried one (the velcro slot over mirrors version) for a few minutes but haven't ridden with either yet.
