Greetings from Southern Illinois. I live near St. Louis, MO on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River.

My 1976 Honda GL1000 Goldwing came with a Vetter Vindicator fairing when I acquired it 7 years ago. I always ran this bike naked and the fairing sat in storage. This year I finally decided to mount the fairing so I could extend my riding season this year. My Vindicator never had a windshield so I put out a Craigslist ad for windshield. In the end, I ended up with a whole fairing for what I would have paid for a windshield. It is a Windjammer V. It was in such good shape that I decided to just mount this one versus rob it of it's windshield. Since it has integrated turn signals, I didn't have to mess with mounting my signals below the Vindicator. It even came with the Vetter Sound pod, wired and working.

Now you'll wonder why you didn't mount it years ago ! At least all you had to do was put the bracket on the bike and then mount the WJ5 to that. I had to fabricate a mount from scratch for my WJ4 for my modern 2006 Honda VT600cd. Later I acquired Vetter Saddlebags and Trunk. I had to make brackets for those as well. I keep my fairing, bags, and trunk on my bike year round. Down here in Alabama it's not that bad to ride year round, which I do. My WJ, bags, and trunk sure helps in early morning temps. People say the bags and trunk are ugly, and they would be correct. Everything truly aerodynamic is ugly. The bags and trunk were designed to prevent air from behind coming from behind the back of the bike resulting in dirty and cold air in the winter hitting your back. It's nice riding in a dead air space in the winter. If you've got those ugly bags and trunk bolt those on as well and go for a ride in the cold. You'll leave them on the bike!

Yes, I have been hesitant for a while to install a fairing. I was not a fan at first but I have seen some pictures over time that I've grown to like. I was told more than once that I would fall in love with the front protection. I did a shake down ride late afternoon Saturday. It took some getting used to not having the openness of the road in front of me but it wasn't really that bad. My back did feel chilly at the end of the ride though.

The WJV bolted right on my wing. The Vindicator is a maroon color, close to the color of my '84 Sportster. I contemplated messing around with mounting that but I'm not a welder and I don't know how difficult fabbing a bracket for that would be. That will be a project down the road.
