Hi all, I have a 98 Yamaha XV1100 Virago and am buying a windjammer 3 fairing today, but it has no mounting bracket or screen and no headlight just the bowl. I am hoping someone can steer me in the right direction to get this fairing on my bike as I just love them. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou Cloe.

Mounting the Windjammer to your bike will be an undertaking. There isn't a mount made specifically for your bike, which means one will have to be fabricated. I believe Craig stated to properly mount the Windjammer, the angle of the windshield should match the angle of the forks.

It can be done, but will require some fabrication.

Parts are available on ebay, but postage will be more expensive than the part for you, unless you can find a seller in Oz. I think that the WJ III used just the basic H4 sealed beam headlight, so if you have the bucket, you will just need the ring to hold the sealed beam headlight in place.

When I designed and fabricated the bracket for my Honda VLX 600 I did not set the windshield angle to the same angle as the forks. The reason for that is the fork angle is extended to give the bike a chopper look. I hung my WJ to a rafter so I could hang it over the bike and see what it looked like. With the windshield at the same angle of the forks the WJ was laid back way too much. After fiddling around I found that setting the bottom of the fairing where the bracket would be at 5 degrees looked and ended up being perfect.
Before you start fabricating a bracket make sure the WJ will actually fit on your bike. My WJ just barely fit my bike. The problem is due to the era the WJ was designed. In the early 70's most all bikes had drum brakes up front and narrow gas tanks. On modern bikes all are fitted with disc brakes, which require wider fork widths. I only had 1/8 inch (.318cm) clearance to work with on my bike. Modern Gas Tanks are wider on bikes than they were in the 70's. The gas tank on my Honda is small at only 2.7 gallons (10.7 litres), so it fit just fine.
