My Vetter Build 6 years in the making.

A few new things as we make our way to a finished bike.. I also picked up another Vetter radio cover complete. That one I paid much less for. So that makes 2 Vetter radio covers and one extra face cover. I also have the original CycleSound backing plate that will work with the the one I'm going to get from admin. So just a few Vetter things I've found along the way. I also picked up a NOS OEM CycleSound speaker covers for my CycleSound radio catty. The catty that I have is from the early years. The speaker covers have the chrome ring with the tiny holes in the fronts. Comes with the 8 track radio before the CycleSound logo's were imprinted into the plastic covers.. I'm assuming.. They are original covers so one is suspect to think so.. Hope all has a great week ahead.. Paul.

I picked mine up @ ace. They are a little bit bigger in dia But I will turn the rubber down instead of making the hole bigger though.

Hello all.
I had to take some time off to deal with a death in the family. I'm back at it full swing. I had to resand my fairing there was a deep gouge in the paint. I removed the edging it was battered and needs to be replace. My question is dose anyone know where to find the edging to replace it ? I'm just not seeing spending big money for short pieces. I want to get a role of it. Thanks again. .

After many hrs and hard labor my 1978 Honda GoldWing is finally complete. Not all together yet but complete none the less. I started building this bike 6 years ago. I picked it up for a cheap price and took it home with the mindset to build something wonderful. Now as the years passed and the work came and went it was pushed in a corner to sit another couple years. I left it like a dream dies in your heart and I was crushed. My wife new that I wanted a true original Vetter GoldWing for a long time. We together and her alone put the money together to get parts on time little here little there. Yet life got in the way and that was the end. Another upset with health and other things took the build away again. A year went by. Then something wonderful happen. I was given the chance to start over. After months of hard work at my job I slid the bike from under the window and started building it at night and on the weekends when I was home from work. I grind'ed 10 plus hr days to make the money to build up a one of a kind GoldWing with all the Vetter parts I could find. Even went as far as buying patch's and other sorts magazines Radio catty parts fairing etc. I now have a dream come true a solid year at the grindstone an it's done. Lying on the floor ready to be installed. This is my little story about a guy and his bike dreams do come true the timing is not your but it's there on time..

Thank you for sharing your story Paul, I know exactly how you feel. I am currently in liquidation mode because we are buying a house to temporarily stay in while we get ready to build a home. We are currently staying in a rental and had planned to stay here till we finished building our house. However, the landlord decided that he wanted to move into the house sooner then expected. This means we either had to rent another place or buy something. We found a good deal on a small place just down the road. We now have to move out of here, remodel the purchased home, all in 3 months!!! So, to make a long story short, I had to sell all bikes except my DR650 and a bunch of other stuff. We seem to be bleeding money, and it hurts!!

I am selling my XS11 to my Dad whom is a big XS fan. He doesn't want the Vetter goodies so I get to keep my IV and luggage. I also get to keep all my other Vetter goodies! So, my goal is to get a 1978 GL1000 like yours and also a XS11 Midnight Special. I will be building up again bikes and more Vetter goods soon, it's just been crazy this last year. Then you throw a new baby on top of all that.

wow.. Been there the move and all. I did manage to get the Vetter stuff cleared today and assembled some Lost the screws to the windscreen. The bonus from work sure helped get the rest but I still haven't bought a battery. I had a closer look at the exhaust and the bike has Jardin Jardan exhaust on it so they will be added to the mix. I'm glad you get to keep your goodies anything Vetter is a keeper. The fairing off the 77 is a loss I've been robbing parts including the molding around the edge. Took it off with a heat gun and some love. Just unsure what to use to re=glue it down. I just didn't see spending 60.00 plus on two pieces of corner. Shs I'd put 10mm square plain jane on it first for that kind of money just for the fairing. I could see 60 for the fairing and lowers. So its a parts fairing. It also has the original headlight bucket and replacable bulb still in it. That will get a LED insert. Coming along nicely hope to have the coils wired up tomorrow and the crash bars on along with the fairing. Oh the 77 still had the flat stock hold down bars for the fairing ties the pressure evenly instead of at just the mounting bolts.. Looking good it sure is.. Thanks for the read and the reply..

Nice looking bike you have built there, your excellent close up pictures also confirm that the lowers I have on my SS are from a GL as suspected, I had to trim the top of the back panels away to clear the rear rocker covers on my Kawasaki.

Hello to all. I have been working so much I have not had time to post anywhere. But I'm here to tell you the bike is running great. I have posted a cpl videos on my youtube page with things on the bike. Craig Vetter replied to a email I sent him with pictures of the bike. And I think that is so cool. He says it looks great. So I hope all is well in the Vetter world. Much going on here in Fla. A lot of heat and long days at work. Be safe all and thanks..

Paul I know how you feel. Busting my butt so much lately, but this weekend my wife and I are going to Niagara Falls for our anniversary. It will be nice to get away for a long weekend... Oh, and a bike is going along for the trip.
