As some may have seen my earlier post, I found a full Vetter setup on the local Craigslist for $150.00. Originally his number was typed in wrong on the ad, and it was kicking back as an invalid number, so away the e-mail went. I was able to make contact with the gentleman and got a date and time setup to go look at the items.

I met up with him and he said after he corrected the phone number, his phone blew up with calls and text messages inquiring about the Vetter items. Thankfully, he stuck to his word and gave me the opportunity to buy even though he had people closer with cash in hand.

Apparently he stripped his '78 Goldwing down to build it into a cafe racer, and decided to part with all the stuff he pulled off. Lucky me! He said he wasn't even expecting to get $100 for everything.

Anyways, onto what everyone wants most... pictures!

Thanks! I lucked out on this set as they had been posted over a week and the guy had a couple of numbers switched around for his contact number.

Everything seems to be in pretty good shape, except one saddle bag. The guy I bought them from said when he got the bike, one saddle bag was cracked, so he did a little fiberglass work on it.

Great looking set of gear, BeachedSquirrel!

I got a set of "deer whistles" on my fairing too. The saddlebags have some kinda trim on the covers- is it "stick on" or what? One of my bags was cracked, and I used a "Hotcha" kit from Craig's site to repair it very nicely.

The local Craigslist has once again provided the opportunity to buy more Vetter stuff...

1980 Goldwing GL1100 with Windjammer, Saddlebags, and Trunk for $300

and the other is listed as an 89 Goldwing (doesn't appear to be though) with a Windjammer and Trunk for $200.

Both bikes are being sold as parts only (no title) although an antique title could be filed for the 1980 'Wing.

Both bikes have the post-Craig emblems on them.

I may call about them if they are still available this weekend. Not that I need two more Goldwings...

I haven't looked to see if they were stick on or not. I'll take a closer look at them this weekend and see what I can figure out. I may look into the Hotcha kit for repairing the bag.

For those that remember, I joined this forum after purchasing an 81 Goldwing that came with a Vetter Terraplane. I was finally able to get back over to my brothers house, where the Terraplane is currently sitting, to get some pictures of it.

I'm pretty sure I'm missing all of the bike side mounting hardware, and possibly missing some of the sidecar mounting hardware as well.

For those with a Terraplane and have it mounted to a Goldwing, can you advise me on what's missing?

Two years later and I'm finally getting started on this project Goldwing. Working on rebuilding the carbs now. Once it's back together, the Vetter gear will make its way onto the bike.

Sometimes projects take a little time. Like wine, they get better with age!

I am wanting to start a new project, except I'm in-between houses again!! 8 more months.... I hope.

If I had a GL1000 with those 4 carbs that need work I would go ahead and convert it over to a single Holly-Weber progressive two barrel carburetor. Even a Solex single barrel carburetor used on air cooled VW engines would be better that those 4 stock carburetors. Below is a picture of a carburetor intake manifold made for use use with holly weber carb conversions on VW engines with the type-3 configuration. Radiator hoses are used for the transition from the type-3 manifold to the GL1000 manifolds and a youtube video of a running conversion.
