Howdy all from Montana!
I was looking for some Vetter information and ran across this great site! Recognize some names from another forum that I respect and thought I would join in. I have a full Vetterized 78 GL1000, looks to have come from the dealer fully setup with matching color and stripes.

I usually run it without the trunk, I find it easier to get on and off with old legs. Paint on fairing is near perfect, side bags are chipping around key lock. I have run full fairing bikes since the 70's, believe it is the best option for a daily transportation vehicle.

The question I have is this, the exterior of my fairing is great, matches bike perfectly, but the interior part has lots of cracks. Has anyone ever seperated the two parts and reassembled? I have another fairing that has a perfect interior piece. Anyway, glad to be here, hope to learn lots and share as I can! Todd

Welcome to VOG Todd, while I don't know the answer to your question myself, your in the right place! I know there is some repair kits available from www.craigvetter.com, but I'm not sure if it's what your looking for. Someone here will know though!

Welcome to the forum Todd! That is sure a nice looking GL you have there. They look so nice when all color matched like that. I really want to get a 78 GL. Been looking for sometime now.

As far as separating a fairing, thats a really good question! What I would do is repost the question in the technical forum under Windjammer Fairings, and I am sure some of the more experienced fellows will chime in. In the mean time I will do some research. If we cant find an answer we can even ask Craig.

Again, welcome and looking forward to seeing more pics of that awesome GL.

Welcome to the forum! Pretty soon us Wingers will have a majority! Is that windscreen original?

By the way, I think the way I liked my bike the best was when I didn't have a trunk, and yeah, it sure is easy get on and off without the trunk there.

Thanks for the welcome! I am sure the windscreen is custom made, I have never seen one with the wings on the side. Also it is a brownish tint too, very different. It is starting to crack at the center screw hole, I think I will replace it with a vented clear shield for daily use and save it for special occasions. Thanks again!
