The listing stated this was Vetter OEM. Is it a Vintage Vetter peace. Have a look.

Looks like it could be. I had one once, but lost it, so I cannot compare it for you. The nice thing though Paul is that any vintage lighter should look right at home in the fairing.

This is true. I'm guessing it is that's the story I'm going to tell anyway lol.

I still have the rubber thingie where the lighter goes.I guess being a non smoker helps but have thought about getting one years ago to power my scanner.
 
It looks exactly like the lighter on my circa 1981 WJ5. which is a vintage piece. I cannot swear it is an original Vetter part however, or if they even used a single style. I have seen very similar chrome lighter heads for sale on Ebay, for Yamaha fairings, etc.

It sure is a good thing they identified it clearly as a LIGHTER though, right?! :)
