As I mentioned in another thread, I am currently purchasing some acreage. The property has been abandoned for at least three years, and I'm surprised all of the structures are still standing. This property is actually where I grew up at, lived there for 12 years before going into the military. In 2003 or 2004 (possibly earlier) my dad bought a new lawn mower and a utility trailer.

The utility trailer was parked and never moved again, until today. Over the years, the trailer was loaded with broken appliances and trash. Now that I'm buying the property, I figured I should try to revive the trailer and put it to use. I'll document the process as it progresses, but this is where it's at as of today.

As I was cutting the trees out, the neighbors goats decided to come by for a treat...

That's where I am at as of today. I've got to get new tires, decking, wiring, and lights for it and then I'll begin the process of bringing it back to life.

And if you're curious as to how much mail can accumulate in a mailbox in a period exceeding a year...

238 pieces of mail...

It lives! :bliss

Next step is to get it road-worthy (lights, brakes, tires, bearings, etc.), put in a floor, and use it to haul all of that junk to sell to a metal-recycling place.

Of course, the proceeds go toward motorcycling projects.

That's what I have planned! I'll be burning most of the stuff and hauling the metal off for scrap. I definitely have my work cut out for me getting this place cleaned up.

When trees are growing through it, you know it's been sitting too long.

My dad was a bit of a hoarder. Surprisingly a couple of the tires were still holding air.

I was just looking at the weather forecast and it's supposed to rain on all my days off next week. I'm going to try to get some more work done on it if I can.

Why don't we have stuff like that in California? I want a trailer that has sat for 2000 years. Everything here is paved over or a giant oak tree.

We have too much of it here. It is nice bringing something back to life. I'll have my hands full this summer tearing that single wide trailer down.
