Recently bought a set of 1982 Drag Spec. catalogs on Ebay, including lots of Goldwing chrome trim and other accessories, even apparel. Actually, in these catalogs, I can account for every aftermarket item my Dad's added to his Goldwing (recently re-found after 24 years) and plenty that he didn't add. Chrome windshield trim included, EXCEPT for the KG saddlebags and M/C front fender guard / fork brace combo. My Dad even bought the leather jacket depicted below, though (thankfully) not the cap. I still have the jacket...it was made by Hein Gericke for Drag Specialties. I think one of the guys from the Village people posed for the artist.

I wish I could have found a windshield trim piece for the new price... I think I paid twice that amount!

Hmmm....think I saw I real nice one go on Ebay a month or so ago for about $60. I considered buying it, as mine has some minor scratches, but then decided there's nothing wrong with the bike having a slight "patina".

By the way, there was an interesting story recently about the development of the windshield clip, and in the (second) photo below, the part that shows on fairing face is black. On my Dad's old bike, it has a brushed aluminum appearance that better matches the chrome trim piece (first pic). Was THAT aftermarket as well?

Wow, that is super cool! Does it show the Drag Specialties sissy bars in the catalog? I have been looking for a specific sissy bar from them that was around 80-82ish.

Not seeing any sissy bars; the catalogs seemed focused on full factory dressers, though there is the occasional Vetter item and even an aftermarket "dual / solo touring" seat/trunk/saddlebag arrangement that is kinda like the similar era Silverwings (i.e. with a sliding trunk). Did Drag. Spec. make a lot of sissybars for GLs? I know KG made some.

BTW, here's a price sheet showing 1982-era cost for various Vetter windshields (tinted vs not, vented vs not); also shows the (black) mounting kit hardware:

Thanks for sharing the ad! Gives me an idea. I think I am going to start the magazine thread. A place to post old vintage Vetter magazine ads and articles. Wonder where that would go? General?

s'more Drag Spec Catalog images depicting Vetter stuff (including a Terraplane sidecar nose I think):

It looks like the 1979 or so Windjammer equipped Wing in the photo was the basis of the artwork in the '82 catalog I posted above.

Hmmm...on second thought it looks like its a custom Harley gas tank, not a Terraplane.
