What wires go to the cigarette lighter and what is the other box I have in my pocket and what wires go to it? Thanks for your help.

I see, from top to bottom, the back of a toggle switch, the back of the lighter socket, and an old-style horn relay.

You don't need the relay unless you're adding something like a high-powered after-market horn.

Larry you are correct on what is there, I don't plan on using the toggle switch or horn relay, so which wires go to the cigarette lighter and where? I've got red, Brown, and black wires with connecters but don't know where to put them. Some of the wires are for the radio pod which I do plan on putting back on.

Make sure you know where both ends of every wire are before assuming anything.

Typically, black is ground, red is always hot, and brown is switched hot or lighting.

The outer case of the lighter socket is ground, the center terminal is hot.

Wire is just wire. How you use each color is what determines its ultimate purpose.

Thank you, that is the info I was looking for, and no I'm not going to assume anything is wired properly! [emoji33]

Oh the horror stories if the black wire is actually the hot wire and one assumes wrong...

Geting wiring to work is just some magical "smoke and mirrors" to most people, more smoke than mirrors if black turns out to be live as you said!
