Slow this train down!

If life is going too fast means you are doing something right:clap
:chopper
I spent three slow days in the hospital:banghead

I hardly know what day it is anymore. I'm so accustomed to my work schedule, all I know is if I'm on/off for two days or 3 days. It's crazy.

Day off????? Between my two jobs, I haven't seen one of those in a long time.

Can we speed it up to the 1st? I have a four day weekend and it will be my first days off in over a month!

But then you see something like this...

I work half the month, but the days I do work are 12 hours shifts. I could get a second job to work on the days off, but I'm not hurting for money, and I really enjoy those days off. The unfortunate thing is, we have a high turn over rate, because the department isn't near competitive pay with other local agencies. We lost 2 in a month and have talks about 3 more going for better pay.

Yikes! Seems to be a bit crazy there in the department. So, is the wage dictated by the local government? Do you guys have a union there that helps with topics as higher wages for officers?

Oh, money isn't an issue for me... I just have too many hobbies: bikes, pistols, reloading. Seems they all take a lot of money to do, so rather than always tapping the family bank account for my hobbies, I work the second job to fund my hobbies. With a recent promotion, I think I will soon re-evaluate that thought process.

Rode to the Retired and Riding group today, started out on four cyls and ended up with three running.I was able to shift with the fused left ankle,a little tricky but with practice I should do allright. Plan on riding to the big North Cariolina XS11 meet this september.

No Union. Our wages are set by the county commissioners. I heard the other day they were submitting a request for higher wages, we'll see what happens.

In the last year, they had 12 people quit; most went to other agencies that pay better. It seems like a waste of money to have the county pay for all this training only to have the people quit a year or so later. If they made the pay competitive, retention would probably be better.

I would agree in full. It seems all the money wasted in training and recruitment, could just be used to raise wages to make more steady happy officers.
