Ok, I think I've seen a thread on here but I'll be danged if I can find it with search engines. The tail light housings on my trunk are busted. The lenses are fine but the housings are busted where they pop rivet to the trunk. Any suggestions on how to get around this or fix them? I really want to stay with a lense that looks original to the trunk.

Exact match I cannot say for sure, but when I was looking for some I found a place called Florida Sidecar Products. Have a look: http://floridasidecarproducts.com/sidecar_parts They look pretty close...

I decided that if I was going to replace them on my trunk, it was going to be the oval LEDs and then I put the trunk on my Dad' Helix, go I don't have the problem right now.

I thought about just getting foam gaskets, placing the housings inside/behind the trunk body, instead of through the holes, and mounting the lenses that way. It would go... lense, foam gasket, trunk body, housing. I think it should work, thoughts?

I do now lol first pic is where I got rid of old rivets so I could add hardware once set in place.

Then i used silicone to help support and weather seal it.

Then small screw to hold where there was still enough plastic on the back piece and larger screws to lip over where there wasn't enough.

Then added the lenses.

I also replaced the locks for the trunk lid and the tonneau cover, the squares on the ends of the locks weren't the same, so I had to do some bending of the metal on the new locks to make them fit. But, now I have smooth gliding, matching keys. I'll be trying to match the locks to the side boxes next.

I realize I didn't actually fix my brackets, however, I'm the only person that will ever see it with the lenses off, so im ok with the permanent bandaid type of fix rather than going with non oem parts. So far everything I've put on this bike has been strictly 1980 parts other than the head unit and throttle lock, which my next radio will look original.

A good thing about the design of these lights is that once the lenses are in place, those screws are enough to hold the light together.

I like what you did with the locks! I am currently waiting on a set of 10 locks so that I ordered so that I can replace all the locks on the saddlebags of both bikes and the tonneau cover. I already had Roncar make me one key that works on both bikes ignitions, so now I just need one key to work all the other locks on the bikes. I am tired of carrying 5 keys when 2 is all that is needed.

Today took my extra Tonneau cover, installed a cup holder from a few pvc fittings, and installed a button for my garage door opener. I stole the idea from another member on here I think.
