It is one of 200 made for Kawasaki by Vetter.

My little bro just picked this up off the side if the road this evening! Someone was just throwing it out. He might be contemplating putting this on his 1982 Honda FT500, I don't know how that will look, but I can't wait.

Yep, Vindicator. Besides being a bit dirty it is in decent shape. Now we just have to fabricate a mount (I don't know if a Vindicator has ever been mounted on an FT500 ).

I'd say not. The outer corners of the windshield cut-out are very different.

The Purple Rain fairing was not a Vetter. It was a Howe Kutter fairing.

Yet another replica bike I would like to build, even know I am not a Prince fan. Just to add to my one day museum of cool famous fairing bikes.
