I'm in the process of refurbishing my recent Terraplane purchase and hooking it to a Gold Wing. I have mounts for a 80-81 GL1100, but I am wondering about availability of 82-83 mounts, as well as GL1200 mounts. I have a line on a 84 naked GL1200 that I would like to completely "Vetterize". Have concerns about clearance between the sidecar and bags. Anybody experienced this combination? This is my first sidecar, so I want it right. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Ray. I am not familiar with the Terraplane however there are several folks on here that are. They will be around soon!

Here are 2 pictures of how the sidecar is mounted, notice they do not have a saddlebag on the right side.

Here are some pictures of mine with saddle bag attached. It is a very tight fit and the sidecar rubs on the bag.

Thanks for the pictures & info. I was afraid it was going to be a tight, if not impossible squeeze. I'm still in the dismantling stage - frame is covered with a lot of reflective tape which will have to be sandblasted off and that means a re-powdercoat. I can only find two bolts at the rear holding the body to the frame. Are those the only ones? I really hate to be a bother, but I need all the help I can get. My plan is to build a four cylinder Wing with Vetter fairing, bags & trunk and hook on the Terraplane. Thanks again for the help.

Not a problem, but may I suggest instead of sandblasting and removing the body, try removing the stickers with Goo-gone or goof-off. And another hint: You can replace the original place with one off a Vetter fairing turn signal. Here is an example of one I used to replace the missing one on a trunk I have.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Project Update: Finally got nearly all the reflective tape off the frame. What a job.I used every adhesive remover known to man and they wouldn't lift it. Resorted to the use of a heat gun and plastic blades to get it loose. Found a lot rust and crap on the frame that was underneath the tape. Have decided to remove the body after all and line-x the frame and the lower fiberglass portion of the body. We'll see how it goes. Sure more work than I envisioned at the start
