I am installing the Windjammer V fairing on my 81 BMW r100t. I wondered if the stock headlight bucket needs to be removed to accommodate the mounting of the fairing. If so, all the wiring in the headlight needs a new place to live. What am I facing here? The fairing is complete and I have the mount. Bolts nuts and such I can figure out. It’s the wiring I need help with, thanks

Yes, you can leave the headlight bucket in place, but if your airhead is like mine (1974 R90/6), I'm not sure how you would access the wiring to connect the fairing. On my Japanese bikes there is a pretty big hole in the bottom of the headlight bucket, but on my BMW it is sealed pretty tight.

Thanks for the information regarding the headlight bucket. The fairing has a receptacle on the left lower side under the vin plate. I don’t have the harness that plugs into it to mate the fairing with the bike though. No big thing though. The fairing is the Windjammer V. Under the signal lights are vents that allow air to both side pockets. It’s a mystery to me why you would want air and possibly rain to flow into the pockets? My plan is to seal them or install adjustable piping and vents to allow air to come into cockpit area. Any thoughts?

Those are not air vents. If you have the horn kit, those are openings for the sound of the horn to escape. If water does come in, there are drain holes at the bottom of the fairing. On bikes that do not have the horns, the hole in the fairing under those 'vents' are closed over with tape. You can usually find wiring harnesses and also the horn kits on eBay. The wiring harness is universal for all Windjammers that have those style turn-signals.

WOW thanks for the info. No horn kit but I did end up buying 1 3/4” plastic plugs and inserted them from the inside. No glue so if I find a horn kit they’ll be easy to remove.
