WindjammerV on CB1100 Honda

Mr. Vetter, I plan to mount a Windjammer V Fairing on a 2014 CB1100 Honda. I also plan to mount some lowers on it. I was thinking the lowers for a earlier 750 Honda, maybe KZ900/1000? Also hoping to find a bracket close to the frame I have so it can be modified. Thankyou for any feed back you may have.

The new bikes are much larger. My instinct is that you would have to cut away so much of the inside of your Windjammer that there would be nothing left to hold it together.

But I don't know for sure. The easiest way to find out would be to find a junk Windjammer, prop it up on your bike where it belongs and start cutting away everything inside the fairing that is in the way and see what you have left.

If you want to pursue this, send me pics and I will advise. Then we can talk Lowers, OK?

Craig, Thank you for your answer. The CB1100 is in the style of the Honda 750's like my 73" I had a custom painted one with the 750 turn signals mounted on it. I know the Windjammer V, I purchashed WILL fit because we held it up and "eyeballed" it for fitment around the tank. The turn signals will have to be removed since the "V" has them already. I may get away with leaving the headlight intact., Plenty of room from sides of tank. I plan on getting a 9 pin kit from you to have a pigtail from the fairing to the headlight. Also a chrome trim kit for the "V" and windshield foam, since I will be getting a new windshield, also the windshield screw kit. I am 61 and from your generation. I really enjoyed the old pics on your site, the good ole "Hippie" days.! You had a kick-ass product back then, and I look foward to having "smooth" riding soon. My welder friend is a good fabricator, and I am certain he will make a safe and strong bracket. I have read that the windshied should be parallel with the forks, and I plan to mount the bottom of fairing approximately even or maybe a touch higher than the bottom of the gas tank. Does this sound correct. Thanks again. Rick

Gotta tilt the rear up a tad. Make the front edge of the windshield parallel with the fork.

Craig, my serial number on the Windjammer "V" is 63-102601. The factory plate is intact and in excellent condition.

For some reason the scale looks off. The Jammer looks a bit large.

The angle parallel to the forks is an approximation. All original Vetter Brackets were made so that the rear of the fairing was 1 to 1 1/2" lower than the front. The Lowers were made to that configuration, too. Regarding the scale... it could be a little off. When I do these, I scale to the front wheel diameter. I might have picked the wrong diameter or the camera was higher or lower, throwing things off a little

That is so cool! I tried to fit mine with a XS1100 Bracket. Had to cut it in half and try to fit one side at a time. The fairing was hitting the forks when the wheel was turned so I figured it wouldn't work But we were trying to hold it in place while checking this. Maybe we had the inside of the fairing to close to the instrument cluster on the bike.
You Sir are evidently a genius. Would like to pick your brain on your install if that's ok. Thank you Rick

The bracket I used looks like ones I have seen listed on eBay for a early 80's gl1000/gl1100. I didn't have to modify it much. I removed the oil cooler (temporarly) and test fitted it with large tye raps. The frame brackets were very close to fitting. I worked on mounting the bracket first, them the fairing to it. My gauges just touch the area where the pockets are on the fairing. I removed the metal cups on them to make a better fit. I did have to notch the bracket where the forks hit. The fairing itself was not in great shape so I covered it in marine grade vinyl.
